| Every year students at the Toronto Flute School present three concerts which take place in the sanctuary of Christ Church Deer Park. At the Solo Recital (February) each student performs a work for flute and piano. Graduations take place at this time (see the Suzuki page for further information on graduations). There are also two ensemble Centre, Winter (December) and Spring (May). These concerts showcase the pieces that have been prepared during the ensemble classes. The Winter Concert features some seasonal music and the Spring Concert also gives students another opportunity for graduations. All concerts are followed by a party in the Elliot Hall of the church!
TFS Graduation Ceremony, May 2001. Congratulations to everyone! In addition to the concerts and the fall workshop, there are other events which students may participate in during the year. The Kiwanis Festival, which takes place in February, is an adjudicated competition for soloists and ensembles. Our groups and individual students have always done well in the past. As a result of their performance at the Festival last year, one of the TFS groups was invited to play at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts as part of the 50th Anniversary Gala of the Oakville Kiwanis Festival. New for 2002 is a non-competitive class for Suzuki flute (no marks, only comments) which would be suitable for any student. Another non-competitive Suzuki Festival takes place at the Royal Conservatory of Music in late April/early May. Some students also choose to take examinations at the Royal Conservatory of Music. These are offered in January, June and August. We are happy to prepare students for any of these or any other playing opportunities (masterclasses, auditions or competitions) whenever appropriate.
